Advanced Wetrooms Advise On A Level Access Wetroom
Wet rooms are the current vogue for bathrooms and their popularity continues to grow. Ideal for contemporary modern designs, space saving bathrooms and level access showering; a wet room can transform the look and practicality of your bathroom. There are many different ways to create a wet room but the biggest question you must ask yourself is; do you require level access?
Whilst the installation can seem relatively easy, there are a couple of points you must consider carefully. All wet room systems involve the placement of a drain within the floor; with the drain being the lowest point in the room. When designing a level access wet room, consideration must first be given to the depth of the drain. The drain must be accommodated with the flooring screed or joist to ceiling void. In some buildings this can be a problem!
Secondly you need to create a slope within your floor towards your drain. For level access the starting height is the height of your existing floor or adjacent room, with the slopes falling towards your drain.
There are many different wet room systems on the market, make sure that you do your research! In most cases you will have to lower your existing floor boards, possibly remove a small percentage off the joists or drill into a concrete slap. Remember, it is important to have a qualified structural engineer to agree to any planned changes to the main structure of your building.
A level access wet room can be tricky, but with a little thought it is a problem that can be solved.
